Geochemistry, Inc.
Over 20 years ago we became the first company to engage in Mass Spec data collection and presentation of the findings from the information. We're the best there is at this. When we are selected to collect and process the data onsite we mobilize in a trailer that has a small footprint and this contains our Mass Spec equipment, the sample control gear, and working space for our technician.
We're totally self-contained, usually requiring only electricity and an EDR hookup from the rig. The setup at the rig will look much like a typical mudlogging unit, with similar mud pits gas sample equipment, etc. Crown personnel conduct onsite and offsite functions.
Bruce Warren formed Warren Logging Company in 1990. Subsequently as Warren and Christian, Inc. (W&C Inc.) that company grew to become Western Oklahoma / Tx Panhandle’s largest mudlog services provider.
Crown GeoChemistry Inc. (tm) was formed in 2003 as a subsidiary of W&C, Inc. to conduct advanced gas analysis services using DQMS technology. Bruce became the majority owner and president of Crown after the spinoff in 2006.
Crown has now done we think around 2300 wells. Crown has now spent well over 200,000 man-hours analyzing gas metrics data. This number reflects only the time spent in actual study, data presentation, and analysis. We have developed or refined many (or most) of the analytic discipline and techniques that are being employed with this data.
We like to reference the Malcolm Gladwell books “Outliers” and “The Tipping Point” when we discuss how these numbers reflect on us.
We help locate fractures, faults, H2S sources, depletion, changes for poro/perm & water saturations, and much more.
The data can be useful for assistance in geosteering and production design. We map compartmentalization, and help assess qualitative HCs pay changes laterally and stratigraphically.
A Mass Spec more accurately analyzes for dozens of Hydrocarbon and other gas species, which allows for amazing insights.
We love to help support mudlogger Mass Spec operations via a partnership with Future Geological Technologies. This includes doing end of well analysis of the data they collect.
While the price difference between employing Crown and having the data acquired by your existing mudlogger may not be much - it can be true that this is worth considering.
This can allow a single footprint on location, one AFE item, and usually at least some cost reduction.
